Annika’s Blog # 14
I am now in the final year of my Training Contract and I am due to undertake the Professional Skills Course over the next few months. The PSC consists of three core modules and 4 elective modules. The core electives are in Advocacy, Client Care and Professional Standards and Financial and Business skills. The Financial and Business Skills core module includes an exam. My training Principle Anna and I went through the many options for the elective modules and selected four that would be most beneficial to my Training Contract. I have selected both Family Law and Criminal Law electives to study. The Professional Skills Course must be successfully completed before the end of my Training Contract in order for me to qualify as a Solicitor.
It’s been a busy few weeks again at Lewis Rodgers. I have been out at Court representing clients both as Applicants and Respondents in applications for Non Molestation Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders, Residence Orders, Occupation Orders and Contact Orders.
When I have not been at Court I have been in the office working on existing files and also seeing new clients. Some of the files I deal with have reached the stage of a Further Directions hearing. In preparation for this, numerous directions may need to be adhered too including further witness statements being filed, obtaining police disclosure, obtaining medical reports and any other pieces of evidence that may assist the Judge in reaching a final Order and ultimately bringing the proceedings to an end.
Here at Lewis Rodgers we are happy to assist new clients with any queries or issues they may have. Free half hour initial appointments are available in both our Winsford office and our Macclesfield office.
